Registered dietician Audrey Blumenfeld, MPH, RD, LDN is available for nutritional counseling at Gulf Coast DPC on MONDAYS and THURSDAYS by appointment. 

 

Audrey offers evidence-based, supervised treatment plans that are personalized, compassionate, and realistic. Her emphasis is on improving one’s overall health status by incorporating a preventive lifestyle and stress management.

What to expect

Your evaluation begins with a Nutritional Assessment to gather necessary medical information, including medical history, current labs, acute and chronic health conditions, and medications, Audrey will then create an evidence-based, customized nutrition plan that ensures nutrient-rich foods that sustain healthy behaviors.  In addition, behavior change strategies, meal planning, and regular eating schedules to guard against dysregulated eating, “triggers” for excesses, and hunger. Programs include meal planning and resources.  Initial consultations and follow-up consults to monitor progress are available. 

Please bring the following:
  1. 3-Day Food Diary sharing all foods and beverages consumed (*Please Include 1 weekend day) 

  2. List of All Food Allergies or Sensitivities

  3. Personal Nutritional Goals and/or Areas of Interest outside of given Nutritional Prescription  (i.e. recipes, dining out, grocery shopping, label reading, etc.)

  4. The latest copy of Laboratory Studies

  5. Listing of Current Medications

  6. Any Nutritional Recommendations from Referring Physician

"My wife and I have been patients at Gulf Coast Direct Primary Care for the last 2 years...On one visit Dr. Bernard told me she had a new Registered Dietitian in the office named Audrey Blumenfeld and suggested I see her.

 

A little background about myself, I'm a 58-year-old 6'4" male and at that time I weighed 370 lb -- that's more than 100 lb overweight. I had tried to lose weight for the last 10 years or so to no avail. On my first visit with Audrey and what a great visit it was, Her joy and enthusiasm were just what I needed. I feel that I have a coach in my corner, and I don't want to let her or myself down. She asked a lot of questions about my background, habits, and family life. In my first visit, we set long- and short-term goals along with a clear path to achieving them. For the first 2 months, I would go every 2 weeks but over the last 3 months only once a month. Audrey explained that with just a small amount of change in my diet, smaller portions, and better choices in what I eat that it would be possible to lose 10 pounds per month. She was right, over the last 5 months I've lost 50 pounds. I feel great and no longer look at food as having control over my life.
